Noise Cancelling Headphones – Something to think about.

I bought these noise cancelling headphones about a month ago. Mainly because I travel so much and planes can be really noisy places.

I have to say they are one of the best investments I’ve made in a while. Not cheap but worth it.

If you aren’t aware by now I got back into playing tennis regularly again last year and also coaching in the evenings to support my local club when I’m not travelling.

Today I sat down at my desk at 8:30 to complete my Level 2 tennis coaching portfolio which will be assessed so I can get my Level 2 coaching certificate! I wore my headphones as there was quite a lot of noise around the house this morning. They worked great, listening to my music while I complete this portfolio. Anyways 3 hours later I haven’t moved from my desk and I’ve just gotten up feeling much older than I should! I’m also really cold. As you can see I’m wearing a jumper, the house is warm so no reason I should be feeling cold, other than the fact that I’ve been sat for 3 hours and not moving. There is reduced blood circulation moving around my body so for those of you who get cold in the office or at home, it might be time to up the number of times you get up every hour!

I normally always have an alarm set on my phone or an outlook calendar event throughout the day but today I forgot to turn them on. Whilst using my noise cancelling headphones has made me rather productive, they have sort of shut me off from the rest of the world which has meant I’ve been static for 3 hours.

I know a lot of people wear headphones or earphones to focus on their work. Makes sense. Just make sure you do set reminders in places for at least every hour so you have an opportunity to move throughout the day.

Joan Vernikos, a former life scientist at NASA says we should get up at least 32 times a day to prevent musculoskeletal disorders, fatigue, cardiovascular issues, and muscle atrophy.

There is no point being productive for the first half of the day, if you can’t follow that through to the rest of the day because you are in agony. You’ll end up being less productive!
